A Quieter Day

After yesterday's marathon (ok, half marathon) today was a quieter day as we went by False Creek ferry to Granville Island this morning.

Granville had been suggested as a must see but frankly it was a little disappointing especially for one who has no great liking for shopping.

There were the typical market stores selling fruit, vegetables, meat, cakes and the like most stalls being laid out rather temptingly and some souvenir style retail outlets.

We lunched at one of the outlets before returning Downtown again by the ferry. After a quick stop in the apartment we walked to the library to catch the shuttle to the Capilano rain forest at North Vancouver.

This attraction consists of various walks through and high in the forest there being a 450m suspension bridge which does swing rather wildly when there are numerous folk on it, as well as a treetop walk and a cliff walk

Suspension Bridge

The Douglas Firs & the Red Cedar trees which predominate are truly majestic in this environment.

As we have now come to expect there was the typical monument celebrating the "First Nation" people.

The shuttle dropped us off back downtown after another enjoyable day (& 15.5 walked kms!)

Tomorrow we leave Vancouver for London arriving in London around 2am NZ time Friday so the next post will be sometime after that.

Vancouver is a city which is well laid out and very welcoming to tourists - if we had known we may well have arranged to stopover here on our return!
