Exercise Day!

As we sit in the apartment writing this blog there is blood on the floor!

Not because of any fight between us but from our feet which have taken us 26.02kms (or that what the iPhone Heath app recorded) today on a "stroll" around Gastown, Coal Harbour and the Seawall - a scenic walk around Stanley Park.

On the way to Gastown we came across a shop that looks after cats

Gastown is rather quaint hip contemporary area with cobblestoned streets and old street lights near the waterfront. There were numerous shops of all descriptions some being extremely large with a bright interior such as this shoe designers retail outlet John Fluevog.

There was a rather charming steam clock on one of the street corners which attracted a swarm of tourists each trying to see the mechanics of the clock.

At the port there were 2 cruise liners tied up and there was a buzz around the area as passengers set out on their excursion for the day.

The Seawall started at this point and went along past the numerous seaplanes that were very active taking off and landing one every five minutes or so

Across the harbour the residences and businesses of North Vancouver came into view with the panorama sloping up into the hills.

The Seawall has a lane for cyclists & rollerbladers and another for pedestrians and both were in demand today.

One thing one must say about Vancouvians is that they are extremely friendly. There must have been over half a dozen times in the short time we have been here that we have been asked if they could help us as we looked over the map - folk from 25ish to 90ish!

As we continued around Stanley Park we left the Seawall and climbed up to Prospect Point which gave a grand view out over Lions Gate Bridge.

Also on the walk we came across an area where there were numerous totem poles which made an interesting display

The walk followed the coastline around the park until it came back into the built up area of the city - which was a welcome sight I have to say as the legs by now were very weary & the footwear was taking its toll on the feet!

A great day in a very attractive city.
