Doubles

It is said that everyone of us has a double somewhere else in theWorld and so far on this trip we have seen doubles of:
Bjorn Ulvaeus of Abba
Sir Richard Hadlee
The late Robin Williams
Steve Franklin (our gardener!)
After today we are museumed out as this morning we went
to the Yorkshire Castle Museum which was in the old
Women's and Debtors prison.
It was a very interesting insight into life in York and for that
matter England through the 1800 & 1900s. There were scenes
of various rooms from houses of the period which were very
realistic and also there was a street which one walked
through and it was as if you were actually living at that time
There was also a display of the Great War which was very moving particularly when one read the numbers of casualties
Walking through the prison was also an eye opener of how strict they were in those years what with executions, sending off to Australia etc.
After leaving the museum we went to the nearby Clifford Tower which gave a great view across York
This afternoon we went to the York Museum which had superb exhibitions of medieval York as well as of prehistoric times, dinosaurs and the like
To complete the day we walked the third and final section of the City wall - the area within the wall is 50 hectares so we have seen a wide area of this medieval City
Tomorrow we move on.
